SIMI, together with a select set of long-time partners and consultants, provides key strategy, architecture, design and implementation services to our customers and clients. Our rich research, investigation, analysis and development experience in specific domains provides clients immediate value and impact on their organization. Collectively, and as individuals, our team is recognized for vision, leadership, insight and innovation skills. Our focus on “building working systems” as opposed to “working on building systems” brings back true project and engagement management focused on outcomes, value and sustainability rather than generating billable hours and endless reports. Here is a sampling of some recent and current service deliveries.
Public Health
- Strategy & Roadmap Development – public health is organized in many different ways and there is no “one size fits all” model. SIMI develops strategies and roadmaps that are based on interoperable standards, aligns with grant guidance, and is specific to organizational priorities.
- Information Exchange – public health exchanges multiple sets of data with many partners. SIMI is helping public health departments to centralize and consolidate their many data and information exchange needs utilizing PHEDEX. The resulting implementations are saving time, money and resources and allowing critical IT and informatics staff to focus on using the data, rather than mundane transfer, transformation, translation, coding and versioning work.
- Laboratory Informatics Strategy – there is much more to laboratory informatics than mere LIMS systems and ELR. SIMI is providing a sustainable operational framework across multiple public health laboratories and jurisdictions for sharing of orders, resources, capacities and results.
- Master Provider, Client Index Strategy – the need to de-duplicate, de-identify and cross-index health data is crucial for biosurveillance, chronic care and health promotion. Dynamic needs to support mass prophylaxis, adverse events as well as fraud detection and claims adjudication are even more complex. SIMI’s MPCI strategies and Common Client Index based on PHEDEX are separating the science and methods of data quality from individual and integrated applications resulting in flexible, maintainable and sustainable common services.
- Grant Management & Shared Costs – the traditional Program-based budget and grant model no longer works in an all-hazards environment with increasing fiscal constraints. SIMI is providing cross-Program consolidation of grants, requirements and services to better meet public health enterprise needs at a lower overall cost.
- HAN Evolution and Sustainment – the Health Alert Network is dead! Long live the Health Alert Network! From the initial proof-of-concepts, SIMI recognized that the Health Alert Network would need to evolve from a stand-alone alert and collaboration tool to a set of common services that can be leveraged. SIMI is helping customers migrate from Generation 1, 2 and 3 packages to a SOA model based on SRA-Gateway and Interact!
Homeland Security
- Information Sharing Environments – fusion, intelligence, analysis and visualization efforts all require data to operate on. SIMI is helping clients rapidly connect partners with bi-directional data and information exchange leveraging SRA-Gateway, PHEDEX and other tools. This consolidated approach supports law enforcement, public safety, emergency medical, emergency management, incident management and other transactions on a common, scalable platform.
- At-Risk and Special Needs Populations – during an emergency the many and unique necessities of at-risk and special needs populations must be met in a timely manner. SIMI is helping clients realign expectations from static surveys and assessments to context-based resource profiles integrated with bi-directional communications to improve capacities and capabilities to serve these populations in times of need.
- Medical Surge, Evacuation, Shelter & Care – earthquakes, floods, fires, hurricanes, pandemics and other disasters require different responses. SIMI, working with key partners such as ESRI and Essex Innovation Group, is helping to change the paradigm on how these key activities are planned, trained, performed and updated.
- Situational Awareness, Decision Support – efforts to improve incident command require near timely, quality data on which to make informed decisions. SIMI is helping customers develop processes and procedures to support near real-time bi-directional exchange based on open standards and interoperability. Our customers are now flowing data and updates to their Incident Command Systems and realizing adaptive situational awareness, dynamic decision support and proactive response resource allocations.
State & Local Government
- Partner Data & Information Exchange – government is driven by data and information. SIMI is helping consolidate, coordinate and facilitate improved data exchange with internal and external partners. From supporting bi-directional data exchange with branch offices, to online reporting and claims transactions, SIMI products, tools and services are empowering government organizations in a cost-effective, maintainable and sustainable manner.
- Citizen Services & Communications – citizen self-service functions have proven cost and satisfaction benefits. SIMI is helping design and deploy self-service functions integrated with geospatial information, driving directions and guidebooks that can be delivered by email, internet or fax. Near real-time, context based updates are now affordable and can be managed without custom development.
- Single Point of Access, Shared Services – the many external customers of government organizations have to deal with a staggering number of user names and passwords. The cost to support updates, changes and access to multiple systems drains precious resources. Open source is free to bring up, but secured access can be an afterthought and the cost and timeliness of updates and changes is prohibitive. SIMI is providing organizations with a common security, architecture and notification framework based on SRA-Gateway and Interact! that lowers implementation risk and on-going costs.
